Dr. Jim Sinning Drs. Cathy and Jim Sinning are the owners of Lake Harriet Veterinary.  We have lived in Southwest Minneapolis for over 11 years and were previously employed at another local clinic.  About 5 years ago we branched off and started planning to build a neighborhood clinic where we would stay for the rest of our careers.  At our new location we have built a small, environmentally friendly clinic that will focus on holistic medicine but provide all the services of a full service animal hospital.

Dr. Cathy SinningDr. Cathy grew up in Fargo and graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead. Dr. Jim is from Davenport, IA., and went to Lawrence University in Appleton, WI.  We went to The College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University and graduated in 1998.  We have a dog Hazel, two cats Olive and Oro, and 2 daughters.

Dr. Nicole PalmieriWe are thrilled to announce that Dr. Palmieri has joined our staff. Dr. Nicole is a 1998 graduate of the University of Wisconsin Veterinary College in Madison and has worked and lived in Minneapolis for 11 years. She brings a great wealth of seasoned experience to our team, and has worked in small neighborhood practices, emergency clinics, and another area practice that specialized in integrative and holistic medicine. She is working towards certification in veterinary acupuncture through the Chi Institute, and has a strong interest in holistic medicine, especially herbal medicine and medicinal essential oils. Dr. Nicole is a skilled surgeon and has a strong background with exotic pets such as ferrets, rabbits, and guinea pigs. Drs. Jim and Cathy have worked with Nicole and know she is well liked by clients and co-workers alike. She currently lives within biking distance of the clinic, and her family includes her husband, feline, canine, and ferret friends. Her passions include cooking, travel, Octoberfests, and the outdoors.

Dr. Megan SchommerDr. Megan Schommer is a Twin Cities native and a 2010 graduate of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine. She has returned to Minnesota after completing a rotating internship in small animal, emergency, and exotic animal medicine in Tucson. Dr. Megan's special interests include holistic medicine, surgery, nutrition, behavior, and exotic companion mammals from mice to rabbits. She is excited to return to the Twin Cities to practice at Lake Harriet Veterinary. Megan and her husband currently live in St. Paul and share their apartment with a corgi, cat, African pygmy hedgehog, budgie, and tropical fish. Outside the clinic you can find Megan with her pets, biking around the city, camping in the Boundary Waters, or baking.
